COMMUNITY
One of the things we have noticed during this season of ‘social distancing’ is that many of us are hungry for (and genuinely need) encouragement, support, conversation, and friendship. We know many of you are already engaging – that’s great! But, some of you just need some help figuring out how to do it. So, let’s get started…
Start a Conversation with Your Neighbors
What’s new? How’s the world inside your home? Can we help with anything? Anyone wanna play a safe-distance game?
Sermon Studies
This is where family, friends and/or neighbors are getting together (over FB Messenger, Zoom, Google Hang-outs) to have a conversation about what they gleaned from the Sunday service. You can find this week’s conversation starters here.
Prayer Groups
Life continues to happen, even during the present crisis. People are still facing personal challenges, parenting struggles, and financial hardship – and our new reality only exacerbates those difficulties. As a result, people are using GroupMe or WhatsApp to start groups with friends and neighbors to share prayer requests and praise reports.
Facebook Live posts
With all the negativity ‘out there’ some people are getting creative about sharing inspirational thoughts and creating community around various topics of interest through a regular broadcast on Facebook ‘live’ or their Instagram stories. Responses create the opportunity for conversation and connection.
Hobby Groups
Our hiking groups and exercise meet-ups, have created private Facebook groups to share favorite pictures (of past events), tips and new discoveries. Have an interest/hobby? Why not build your community around it?
Conference Calls
Moms of toddlers, people caring for aging parents, home-bound singles are establishing weekly calls to check in on each other.
Shoreline Groups
Book studies, marriage groups, and Bible studies have created on-line meetings and are open to new participants. Learn more here
